Song Of The Day Info - P.O.S.
Today on our Song Of The Day Podcast we're featuring P.O.S. with the tune "I Made It From Scratch"
P.O.S. wrote that song for Minnesota Public Radio's Songs from Scratch series. Local musicians Jeremy Messersmith and Best Friends Forever also created original songs for series, you can check out their tunes here.
Of course, P.O.S. is also a member of Doomtree..
Their CD release show is August 1st at First Avenue along with I Self Devine & Kill The Vultures.
More Doomtree...
More P.O.S....

Do the Shuffle

Let's give this a shot.

The Good, the Bad and the Queen - "Nature Springs"
This band doesn't have a name, of course (*wink wink*) but I still liked this album quite a bit. Kind of a blah song, but Danger Mouse adds just the right keyboard touches to make it memorable.

The dB's - "The Fight"
Since I wasn't around during their heyday, can someone answer this question for me: is it pronounced "dee-bees" or "decibels"? I was always under the impression it was the former.

XTC - "No Thugs in Our House"
I've been stuck in an XTC kick lately, so it's only appropriate I get this highlight from English Settlement. The sentiments about parental neglect still resonate.

Stevie Wonder - "Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing"
I downloaded Innervisions a few weeks ago but haven't gotten the chance to listen yet.

The Beatles - "Doctor Robert"
I guess this turned out to be oldies week. Hopefully your shuffles will have more 21st-century material than I did.

Guest DJ Set 7-25-08

Posted at 9:39 PM on July 25, 2008 by Mark Wheat

Several weeks ago we played a section from the new album from The Orb which featured the guitar work of Steve Hillage. System 7 is the project that Steve's been working under for most of the last 20 years, perfectly marrying the most contemporary production techniques with the prog-rock beginnings that he fostered with his first band Gong.
I went back into my archives thinking that I loved the cd he put out in '96;
'The Power of Seven'. It sounds even better than I remember, especially this section that we played tonight;

7 To the Power of Seven
8 Hangar 84
9 Chicago Indian
10 Mektoub
11 Europa
