The Mercury Music Prize's Shortlist of nominations has been announced.

TV On The Radio to release their third album, Dear Science, on September 23rd.

Colin Meloy (Decemberists) wants to make "mossy, evil music like Black Mountain's."

1969 - Aretha Franklin was arrested for causing a disturbance in Detroit
1972 - Paul and Linda McCartney were arrested (for drug possession) in Sweden. 1973 - Rufus Wainwright was born.
2006 - Johnny Cash's posthumous release American V: A Hundred Highways was the #1 album.
