1929 - David Lynch (The Platters) was born.
1955 - Mike Corby (The Babys) was born.
1960 - Vince Clarke (Depeche Mode, Yaz, Erasure) was born.
1969 - Brian Jones (Rolling Stones) drowned.
1971 - Jim Morrison was found dead in a bathtub.
1972 - Mississippi Fred McDowell died.
1973 - The Ziggy Stardust retirement gig took place at The Hammersmith Odeon Theatre in London.
2003 - Pete Doherty was arrested after stealing a laptop and a guitar from Carl Barat.
2004 - David Crosby was fined $5,000 after a gun and marijuana were found in his luggage.
