Oh Canada ... Mike from Chanhassen presented us with three choice selections from the Great White North today in honor of Canada Day. "There are many fine artists to choose from," he said, "but you just gotta play these three."
1) Neil Young, "Cinnamon Girl"
2) Rush, "Bastille Day"
3) The New Pornographers, "The Laws Have Changed"
That Rush tune got quite a response Mike, all positive (and so what if it's Canada Day and not Bastille Day itself -- maybe we can play it again when that day rolls around). Personally, I could do without most anything dating later than 1984 from that band, but some of that early stuff is just blisteringly great, and you are not permitted to argue with me on this -- that song especially (of course, some of it is ridiculous too, but let's save that discussion for another day). Plus: it's a song about execution by guillotine! Gads.
