No Y-chromosomes here today -- at least not in the vocals. Patrick Walsh writes, "First of all, I've never heard you play Emma Pollock. Second, I'd like to send this group of songs out to my girlfriend, who loves these gals and the way they out-rock just about any guy in the biz."
1) Emma Pollock, "Acid Test"
2) Heartless Bastards, "Searching For the Ghost"
3) The Pretenders, "Stop Your Sobbing"
I'm not sure that I've never played Emma Pollock solo stuff (she of the late lamented Delgados), but since I can't prove otherwise, I won't argue with ya. This was a terrific set, Patrick; and also a reminder of the amazing vocals of Erika Wennerstrom of Heartless Bastards, one of the most underrated bands currently working in rock IMHO. It was good to hear that they went into the studio last month to begin work on their next record. Can't wait to hear it.
My fiancee likes Emma Pollock quite a bit after we saw her open for the New Pornographers last fall. Watch the Fireworks was a sadly overlooked record.
