I'm here at Bonnaroo!

After about a 15 hour roadtrip, I'm here at Bonnaroo! Here's what I learned from the drive... Illinois takes a very long time to drive through and there's not much to look at. Wisconsin radio is great for driving, I was able to get my classic rock and oldies fix. I'm not even kidding when I say, I heard the song "Turn the Page" by Bob Seger. The lyrics made me laugh so hard, I related with Mr. Seger last night! Actually, the drive was a fun experience. I never had to pay a toll before. That was kind of fun... haha. There's just something about this festival that makes it almost mandatory to drive to. No matter where in the country you're coming from.

When I pulled into Manchester this morning I could feel it was going to be a hot day. 90 degrees and humid isn't something that I've experienced for quite some time, but it wouldn't be a summer time festival without the heat! I've heard stories of people waiting in line for hours in their cars to get into the festival, and I was able to witness that today. The line of cars literally went for miles. The thing with Bonnaroo is most of the people camp, so it takes extra long to let everyone in. This 700 acre farm turns into a little city for the entire weekend. It's a cool vibe all ready.

The music kicks off in about an hour with What Made Milwaukee Famous, MGMT, Battles, Vampire Weekend and many others tonight. I'll give you an update later on tonight with the "deets". I'll check in with Mary Lucia again tomorrow afternoon and I'll broadcast live from the Bonnaroo radio studios on Saturday and Sunday from 1-5pm. Keep listening for exclusive live performances from backstage Bonnaroo!

I love "Turn the Page". It's so sing-along-able.

I hope you guys get good weather... I am bitterly jealous. :-)

I'm here at Bonnaroo too. I've been here each of the past four years. Yesterday was certainly one of the best days ever at Bonnaroo. We saw the Felice Brothers, Vampire Weekend, MGMT, Dark Star Orchestra, Groupo Fantasma, and Nicole Atkins.

Lez Zeppelin was the highlight of the day. They took me back to the day I bought my first Led Zep album (Led Zeppelin II- the week it was first released).

I think it's going to rain on us today. We're looking forward to the My Morning Jacket late night set. At my age (54), the key to a good day at Bonnaroo is to pace yourself. We're probably going to chill in our air conditioned hotel room (in Murfeesboro) this afternoon and arrive at the fest at about 5. Staying out of the heat of the midday sun prevents "flat-on-face syndrome", a common affliction at Bonnaroo.

I don't know why, but 94.7 FM has good odds of being a classic rock station, no matter where you are.

Funny that you enjoyed the Wisconsin radio. I hail from Southern Illinois and when I drive there from MPLS, my wife and I drive through Wisconsin. We refer to it as Radio Hell...even though I love Classic Rock.

Hey Mark, glad to hear you're down here. I have to agree that Lez Zeppelin was really great! That singer was out of this world and the band was really tight! Since I'll never see the real thing it's fun to see a band that can really cover the tunes!

Jeff- the options were limited for radio on my drive! I had to enjoy what I could. It was interesting to see what was out there for radio outside of the Twin Cities.

I personally want to welcome Bonnaroo for many more years. During this week in June, I consider myself the luckiest person on the planet to make my home in Manchester, Tennessee. It is a great place to live.

My personal highlights from Thursday were MGMT, Battles, and Vampire Weekend.MGMT was amazing, and I hope they come through the MPLS sometime soon! We skipped Dark Star Orchestra since we will be catching them at 10K Lakes this year. My only regret was tuckering out before catching Lez Zepplin. Everyone I talked to said it was amazing!
