The Orb are a pioneering band in the art of electronic music and performance formed in the UK in 1988.
The only constant member has been Alex Paterson, indeed on the sleeve of the new album they list the members as The Orb (this week) are;Alex, Youth and Tim Bran.
But there is an awful lot of Steve Hillage on there too. He's a legendary guitarist and producer who started in the band Gong and put out one of my fave electronic collages ever under the name System 7. Perhaps most famous for their track "Little Fluffy Clouds" which featured the vocals of Rickie Lee Jones, much to her consternation (she sued them!) they also put on some of the biggest live electronic musical festival events in the UK throughout the 90's, raising the bar for everyone with visuals and light show extravagnzas. This new album "The Dream" revisits some of their earlier work, even sampling themselves and is sequenced beautifully which I hope was evident in the section that we played ;
6. "The Truth Is..." (Guitar by Steve Hillage, vocals by Roberts)
7. "Phantom of Ukraine" Paterson, Glover, Bran 0:30
8. "Mother Nature" (Guitar by Hillage, mixed by Greg Hunter, vocals by The Copral,)
9. "Lost & Found" (Vocals by The Corpral)
10. "The Forest of Lyonesse"
11. "Katskills" (Mixed by Hunter, performed by Dr. D, programmed by Pickard)
