Here's one that speaks for itself, from Josh Dix.
1) Charlie Parr, "Cheap Wine"
2) Jeff Buckley, "Lilac Wine"
3) Amy Winehouse, "Rehab"
I suppose you could say that set moves from darker to lighter (that is, if you discount the underlying pathos that simply is Amy Winehouse herself). Well done, Josh!
