Just a little something for a rainy Friday afternoon. I'm not a big ballet fan, but this is something I can enjoy. Makes me wonder if there's more classical ballet set to non-traditional music that I'm missing.

Michael Clark was doing the same thing more than 20 years ago. He collaborated with The Fall to create the ballet portion of "I am Kurious Oranj." A quick search of your local online video sharing site would turn up dance pieces to The Fall's "Hail the New Puritan" (The New Puritans, get it?), "Lay of the Land" and Scritti Politti's "Wood Beez" among others.
The local company "Ballet of The Dolls" does this sort of work all the time. Their "traditional" Christmas show "The Nutcracker Not-so-suite" mixes the usual classical music, along with Ethel Merman, Donna Summer, and a huge variety of other music. If you are looking for ballet but in a non-traditional way - Ballet of The Dolls is the place to look. They perform at The Ritz Theatre in North East Mpls.
