"My 3 Songs" for Monday

Posted at 2:34 PM on April 21, 2008 by Steve Seel

We've got an interesting and creative one today, from Charlie Lyons of St. Paul. "I recently read Kurt Vonnegut's 'Player Piano'," he says, "about modern machinery and technology stripping the working class not only of their jobs, but their sense of self. Here are two songs that revolve around the advancement of technology, and one that resists it."

1) Kid Dakota, "Pilgrim"
2) Dresden Dolls, "Coin Operated Boy"
3) Wolf Parade, "Modern World"

Very cool set, Charlie. Thanks!

Got a three-song set? Step right this way.

(Where is that page, by the way? Well, go to thecurrent.org, scroll down a bit, and look on the left, underneath "Your Voice").
