What more do you need on a Monday than three bouncy, punchy tunes? Mike Larson of Coon Rapids understands.
1) The Rumble Strips, "Alarm Clock"
2) The Fratellis, "Chelsea Dagger"
3) Art Brut, "My Little Brother Just Discovered Rock 'n Roll"
Mike says, "Plain and simple: these songs are fun." Thanks Mike!

Just got word that the Sly & The Family Stone concert scheduled for this Friday at First Avenue has been cancelled. Shocking! From the press release:
"Due to scheduling conflicts with some of the members of Sly & The Family Stone, the concert slated for this Friday at First Avenue has been cancelled. The date will not be rescheduled. Refunds at point of purchase."
Scheduling conflicts! Go ahead and take your shots. I feel especially bad for Bill DeVille, who's been pumped for this show for weeks. He even talked about it last week on Musicheads. Well, I don't know if we should be suprised from the notoriously no-show prone Sly. Maybe it would be more appropriate to say, if the show actually went on, "The scheduled cancellation of the Sly and the Family Stone concert has been cancelled."

Dan Israel got a 4-star review for his recent 'Turning' album in Uncut (from the U.K.), one of the finest music magazines, in my humble opinion. It's on newsstands now (all the cool record stores carry it, as do Barnes and Noble and Borders) - it's in the May 2008 issue, with Led Zeppelin on the cover.
Prince seems to have won over everyone at Coachella, playing some of his biggest hits with guest artists, plenty of sizzling guitar solos and some very well chosen covers!
