You don't have to go home but you can't stay here.

Well, actually, we did have to go home. And home we are. The country's biggest nightclub has closed for another year, and we survived to talk about it. Feeling a little bit like a Lifter Puller song at this point, ("The Current vs. The End of the Evening", perhaps?), after spending an awesome but hot 3 days rocking our asphalt at SXSW. There were so many amazing performances on our stage, and so many memorable moments I hardly know where to begin. I've likened our SXSW broadcasts to summer camp before, but I've decided it's a bit more like Outward Bound. It's grueling and intense, you spend a LOT of time with a small group of your coworkers, and it can get a little trying, but in the end you wouldn't change the experience for anything. I'm so impressed with our staff right now I can't begin to describe it - what a bunch of talented people I am fortunate to work alongside. Not to get too personal, but during the Carbon/Silicon performance, we all had "a moment". I saw Melanie well up with pride and it got me going too - what started in a little hotel conference room three years ago had turned into a major outdoor broadcast with one of the most legendary figures in rock history hamming it up for our audience. Now that's a payoff.

So check out the awesome live performances (in either audio or video form), browse through our Flickr photo gallery, and let us know what your favorite moments are. And thank you to the many many Minnesotans who stopped by the booth to say hello and show some hometown pride. I think the population of the Twin Cities dropped by 10% last week with the number of bands and fans from home that made the trip. I don't think I can accurately describe the wonderful but surreal feeling of being 1,000 miles away from home and seeing the kids from Doomtree, Chooglin', Solid Gold and Romantica stroll by. (All at different times, I should add.) I vote next year the whole state takes a collective Spring Break vacation next year and joins us in Austin for breakfast tacos and late night brats from Best Wurst.

Thanks again to everyone who helped make this trip happen and to all of you who tuned in.

Viva Billy Bragg!
