Do the Shuffle

Somebody, somewhere, once said that where there is love, there is pain. This week The Shuffler cranked out five songs about five different kinds of love. Sometimes randomness is a beautiful thing. I’ll just let the music speak for itself.

“All These Things,” Elvis Costello & Allen Toussaint

“Tired of Being Alone,” Al Green

“Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You,” Led Zeppelin

“I Hope That I Don’t Fall in Love With You,” Tom Waits

“Lonesome Day Blues,” Bob Dylan

Please take some time out of your busy day to show some love to Minnesota Public Radio. Become a member today!

Well, that’s quite the list.

Looks like your Shuffle Mojo has transferred to MiPod … Continuing the theme of different kinds of love… for the first two songs at least.. Then it got weird.

Tom Waits – “Hold On”
Probably my favorite song from The Mule Variations. A beautiful song, and very Springsteenesque.

The Avett Brothers – “Die Die Die”
I do love their harmonies

Alice Cooper – “Clones (We’re All)”
Alice’s ill-fated “New Wave” detour in the late ‘70’s – early ‘80’s.

Southern Sons – “Up Above My Head”
An Acapella gospel song about Heaven. From the MPR “Keeper’s A-Capella” CD.

Haircut 100 – “Love Plus One”
Nick Heyward wrote some pretty good pop songs back in the day. This isn’t my have HC 100 song, but for a bunch of Caucasian cable-knit sweater-wearing English boys, they could actually get kind of funky

And since its Leap Day, an extra spin of the wheel gives us:

Neil Young – “Helpless
Looks like the Shuffle Mojo returned for the last tune.

Sufjan Stevens - Pickerel Lake
LCD Soundsystem - Tired
The White Stripes - Catch Hell Blues
The Beatles - Tell Me Why
Beck - New Round

It wouldn't be a Shuffle without Beck, would it?
