1959 - Buddy Holly funeral was held in Lubbock, Texas.
1964 - Beatlemania hits the states when The Beatles arrive at JFK International Airport to begin their first tour of the United States.
1969 - John and Yoko were featured on the cover of Rolling Stone.
1974 - Danny Goffey (Supergrass) was born.
1976 - Paul Simon was #1 with "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover."
1994 - Shannon Hoon (Blind Melon) was forced to leave the American Music Awards ceremony for his disruptive behavior
1999 - Robert Williams (wrote "'Route 66") died.
