Steve Bug is known as one of the founding fathers of "minimal". Inspired by the Chicago House beats that he would but on regular roadtrips to Hamburg, Germany, he's now based in Berlin running the Poker Flat label.
This is a special radio mix put together for us by fabric the club in London that continues its fine series inviting Steve to put together 'fabric 37' which was released in the USA this Tuesday.
Here's what we heard tonight;
01 Manoo - "Joparish"
02 Dennis Ferrer - "Touched the Sky"
03 White Label - "C'mon Dance"
04 Einzelkind - "Spam Bot"
05 Petre Inspirescu - "De Boul"
06 Argy - "Unreliable Virgin"
07 Martin Buttrich - "Hunter"
Specific to no topic in particular, I needed a place to mention that I'm listening to The Current about one-fifth of the time I did a year ago. Is it just me, or has the station largely gone easy listening? It's not like I need to hear the Yeah Yeah Yeahs five times a day (though I admit I wouldn't mind), and I acknowledge there are fabulous artists out there who don't exactly rock (Jessica Hoop and Iron and Wine come to mind). But this appallingly lame crap from Rilo Kiley, Dan Wilson (Do I want to make you want to cry? Yes, Dan, you suck that much. Not only do I want to make you cry, but I want you to give up your chiche-labored self-pitying songwriting career altogether), and a whole bevy of groups with dangerous sounding names (Hot Hot Heat, Vampire Weekend, The Killers, etc.), tepid songwriting and whey-faced vocals has come to dominate the playlists. That Joy Division cover by The Killers that's been spinning could go straight to Muzak! Why would anyone play that instead of actual Joy Division? Bill DeVille is still putting edgy stuff out there a little, but the rest of the programming seems to be drawn from tracks that didn't make the cut at Cities 97. What happened to my favorite station?
i was wondering,
about a week...or two or so back;afternoon to late night, you played a song that sounded like Ludacris(artist) but it wasn't i dont think,
anyway, i want to find this one song, and the only lyrics i remember are something about "living on 22" ,as in acres of land.
please help a constant listener,
keith
