On Facemelter this week the spotlight is on Jack White. Brett and I take a listen to three outstanding guitar solos from the tune "Ball and Biscuit." I never paid attention to that song and I wish I would have sooner. You can find it on The White Stripes album, Elephant. Thank you Brett for introducing me to this song. It rules. Listen to how Jack White uses an octave petal on his soloing. It makes for some interesting sounds, "screaming kittens" according to Brett.

On this ridiculously frigid day, wouldn't it just feel good to pull the covers up over your eyes and stay in bed? Okay, not possible for most of us ... but Eric Rohn of Grinnell, IA has a musical equivalent. He says, "These are comfort songs for me; songs that are like a sonic blanket that's always there."
