"My 3 Songs" for Wednesday

Posted at 2:04 PM on January 9, 2008 by Steve Seel (1 Comments)

Sara Daly of Mpls writes, "While I'm busy studying or law school finals, commuting on icy roads, and trying to avoid getting towed in a snow emergency, these songs remind me of why I love the Twin Cities."

1) The Hold Steady, "Stuck Between Stations"
2) Dan Wilson, "Breathless"
3) Cloud Cult, "Your 8th Birthday"

It's good to be reminded what on earth we're doing here, during the season when merely descending a flight of outdoor steps is about as dependably safe as riding a unicycle. As I chip the ice from my windshield for the umpteenth time every winter, I ask myself, "And why is it I'm not living in Santa Fe, NM?" And the answer always comes back: "the music and art." Some life forces are more important than they may seem at first. Anyway, thanks for reminding us of this, Sara.
