1899 - Sonny Boy Williamson was born.
1965 - The Beatles played their last hometown gig in Liverpool.
1971 - Craig Gill (Inspiral Carpets) was born.
1976 - "Anarchy In The UK" (The Sex Pistol's debut single) was called "..a third-rate Who imitation" when NME reviewed it.
1987 - Due to blasphemy complaints, The Jesus And Mary Chain were banned from an American TV appearance when they refused to alter their name for the performance.
1993 - Doug Hopkins (Gin Blossoms) died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
