If we going to confine the competition to British R&R, which I'm sure we are not, then it would only be fair to bring The Who into the competition. Maybe not quite as far as music is concerned but tallying the outreachs they have also contributed in theatrics and energy generated by performance alone. IMHO The Who has made milestones in both fields.
