"My 3 Songs" for Monday and Tuesday

Posted at 2:18 PM on December 11, 2007 by Steve Seel

Sorry folks, I neglected to blog yesterday's My 3 Songs -- shame on me -- so here are the sets for both days:

First, Monday: Jennifer Sorenson of Mpls wanted to share three songs from her three favorite performers at the Bonnaroo festival this past summer:

1) Kings of Leon, "On Call"
2) Spoon, "I Summon You"
3) The Hold Steady, "Chips Ahoy"

Now, Tuesday: Ben Cook-Feltz of St. Louis Park MN says, "All three songs make up a fun little Americana Casserole ... I chose these three simply because I like them; I wish I had a story, but the fact is they're (just) great songs and they should be played. Together. In this order. Yes."

1) Hank Williams, "Jambalaya (On The Bayou)"
2) The White Stripes, "Conquest"
3) Romantica, "Drink the Night Away"

Nice job, Ben -- and thanks for dropping in that Romantica song. Not only is it a nice local nod, but a lovely and unexpectedly graceful ending to the set. Class, please observe Ben's fine work.
