Celebrating Home!

Posted at 9:40 PM on November 21, 2007 by Mark Wheat (1 Comments)

This seems to be what Thanksgiving is all about, although I'm not sure, not being from here. As England crashed out of the European Soccer Tournament today, it's hard for me to celebrate my old home, so I thought we should highlight some of my new hometown's heroes...

Diablo Cody grew up near Chicago, but spent 4 years here writing her book 'Candy Girl' and for the City Pages. Now she's in L.A. as a highly lauded screenwriter, for her new movie 'Juno'.
Glad to hear that the soundtrack is packed with music from one of my faves Kimya Dawson.

Hold Steady continue to represent the TC's in fine fashion, having their Washington show recorded by NPR last night and featured on their new music homepage.

I'm thankful to be living here in this music loving community and thank you ... for listening !!

I'm a life-long Minnesotan, and I for one am glad to have you here, Mark. We even have equally hapless sports teams! (Croatia?!?) It was also great to hear our pals the Replacements tonight.
