"My 3 Songs" for Monday

Posted at 1:35 PM on November 12, 2007 by Steve Seel

First of all, regarding Tony's post below that I do "a mean Morissey impression": that's only for private consumption. Shame on you, Tony. But you can do you own impression by following these simple steps:

1) Start with Kermit the Frog.
2) Combine that voice with an opera singer.
3) Sing everything using no more than three notes.

Presto! Instant "Meat Is Murder"-era Morissey impersonation. That's my trick, anyway.

OK then, on to today's M3S. Ian Hanson of St. Paul requests these tunes, being "three of the most haunting tunes I can think of."

1) Sufjan Stevens, "John Wayne Gacy Jr."
2) Jeff Buckley, "Hallelujah"
3) The White Stripes, "Jolene"

Thanks Ian! That's good autumn stuff.
