Today's Song for Red - "Mexicanos"

Posted at 3:53 PM on November 3, 2007 by Tony Lopez

Last week it was a Halloween song for Red; this week, it's a song for Dia de los Muertos. I'm glad Halloween is over, quite frankly. While the main objective is to score as much candy as possible, the whole idea of being creepy and scary gets old really fast for me. Also, I can't stand costume parties. I mean, dressing up is fine for kids. But adults? What can I say, I'm a Halloween Scrooge!

Dia de los Muertos is more up my alley, and not just because I eat enough Mexican food to kill a horse. Despite it's name, it's a really festive occasion. It's a time to honor and celebrate the dead. El Colegio in south Minneapolis always has a great Dia de los Muertos event with all its colorful and vibrant ofrendas.

Today's SFR is Charanga Cakewalk's "Mexicanos."
