From Derek in White Bear Lake..

"I'm not going to lie, i've been listening to it since I woke up this morning. It's not really that I'm that huge a Radiohead fan, I just hardly ever buy new albums anymore and it's fun to feel like you're hearing something brand new. It seems like more of a return to the melodic roots, which I love. I totally respected their "eccentric artist" phase but it's nice to have an album you can sit down and listen to."

Paid 1 pence for it. Wouldn't have paid anything/or checked out the music otherwise...

Totally paid like 5 bones for it

Honestly... not a big radiohead fan. I have to say that I love what they did though, allowing their fans to pay whatever they think appropriate for their album. Honestly, I usually download an album before I decide whether or not I want to buy it. With Radiohead, that's not a problem, since you choose what you pay. It'd be nice if more artists were able to afford doing something like this.

I bought the discbox, so $80. To me it's well worth it.

Spoon tickets... please?

Posted by Justin | October 10, 2007 10:47 AM

Haven't bought it yet... downloaded it via other means to give a listen.

Frankly, they kind of lost me with Kid A/Amnesiac. The music is well-crafted, but not very interesting to my ear. I miss verse/chorus/verse/bridge/chorus/out.

That said: more power to them for doing what they want to do and shaking things up. I may pay them a couple bucks anyhow to show that bands CAN get support via other means.

Dance Puppets Dance!

That Radiohead marketing monster has you all in it's grasp and refuses to let go until you all have heard every song (regardless of how it stands on it's own merits) played on this and every top 40 station in the country.

Personnally, I think I'll be sick of it (or at least hearing about it) by Friday.

I only paid 2.50 (pounds) but if I like what I hear I'll end up forking out more for the disc when it hits the shelf. I hope this works out for them and that other artists (who are financially able to) follow suit.

Do we really need to hear one of their songs every hour? No one else gets that treatment! And so far this album sound like nothing new, not revolutionary or anything.

The album costs a penny anyway, if people want to hear every song they can buy the album. Or perhaps have a new music night every week where you just play one album all the way through? I'd much rather listen to the Travis that's playing.

I payed $20 US for it last Wednesday but my order didn't go through, I never got the confirmation email for it. So I ordered it for free last night and I've listened to it about 5 times already today. I can't judge a Radiohead CD based on the first few listens, I have to discover elements that catch my attention at separate times. Last week was the first time I ever really sat down and listened to Motion Picture Soundtrack and really appreciated it after 5 years of owning Kid A.

chill out... radiohead have been and are important. i DO put them up there with nirvana, pearl jam... big bands that made the 90s alternative scene. and some of us, including myself, LOVE it; they could make an album of nursery rhymes and people around the world would be asking themselves, "do you GET it?" so some people genuinely don't like it, others genuinely don't like anything popular or talked about, and others are ambivalent... that's all fine, but don't forget the contibutions they've made to music over the last decade and a half, and how innovative they've become. popular and obscure at the same time is hard to pull off, especially while always being one step ahead of everyone else!
