"My 3 Songs" for Wednesday, August 8

Today's 3-song set comes from Jonas in Minneapolis, who has put together a set of three "great new songs!"

1. Spoon - "The Underdog"
2. Mike Doughty - "Busting Up a Starbucks"
3. Pictures of Then - "Current"

Nice work, Jonas! On a personal note, I also now know from personal experience to only listen to Spoon's Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga just before bed at your own peril -- every one of those songs will be cycling in your brain throughout the night.

So funny you should say that, Mac ... I tossed and turned to "Japanese Cig Case" last night. What it is about that song? It began as my least favorite on the album, but became the hardest to get out of my head.

I think it's because of its positioning on the album, with the vocal hook kicking in right after "The Underdog" wraps up. After listening to "The Underdog" over and over again, the first thing you hear immediately afterward is "IIIT'S JUUUST MY......JAPANESE CIGARETTE CASE" -- and with that, it's lodged in your head. For hours.
