Footie & Music come together!

The soccer season has started in the UK again, so prepare for more nonsense sentences from me about my fave team Man Utd. Of course here in the USA, David Beckham, an ex United player, is making big headlines for the MLS, well now the indie music community is joining in!!
This is an awesome start to what I hope will be a long association, pop music and footie have always gone hand-in-hand in Europe. Mass singing in the terraces is a big part of the tradition too, just imagine the New York fans chanting the new "Whooo Alright!"

I promise I won't spoil any results for you this season, Mark. I'll be rooting for Liverpool F.C.

Hi Mark

I don't follow professional soccer that closely (other than reading about it on Slate.com). I have to admit I've relied on Latin American friends at work who are way into the soccer to keep up with it. And watched the videoes of finest moments in soccer. My cube mate is from Costa Rica, plays recreationally, and loves watching it too. My Argentinian friend who moved back there used to watch it on Argentinian TV (whilst living here in MSP). A technical wonder, but as a result all the commentary was in Spanish, so I didn't understand it.

I like Manchester because of the music scene that emerged from there. My other association is that my brother went to Keele University in Stoke-on-Trent, which is about an hour or so from Manchester. I had his school scarf for a long time, marvelous warm wooly thing.

Best wishes for you and your team!
Monica
