The scoop on her Covers Record 2.
Cat Power was the first female winner of The Shortlist Music Prize for her album The Greatest.
Regarding the question of whether or not I would jump in to help someone: I would like to think I would, but to be honestly truthful, I probably would not. The reason is fear. Fear of something going wrong. Getting hurt myself. And these days, fear of a lawsuit.
But I am glad there are others that aren't afraid to jump in and help. I myself was once the recipient of such a generous act. Back around 1980, when I was about 12 or 13, I had gone to the city library and a group of older boys started to attack me where my bike was locked up and some man came to my rescue. He scared them off then asked me if I was okay. I was so afraid that all I could do was say yes and run off. Now, I wish that I could tell him thanks. That all these years, it has meant a lot to me and I feel he saved me from a very unpleasant circumstance. I don't feel I showed enough gratitude at that time and hope he didn't feel like he had wasted his time, because he went up against a gang of kids that could have turned on him as well. You just don't know.
