"My 3 Songs" for Tuesday

Posted at 2:41 PM on August 14, 2007 by Steve Seel

Cathleen Daly of St. Paul requested these tunes today because, she says, "I was getting bored with music until I heard these artists!"

1) Xavier Rudd, "A Better People"
2) Wilco, "What Light"
3) Architecture In Helsinki, "Heart It Races"

Speaking of Wilco, I know you know this. But it bears repeating. We'd hate for you to make that drive ...

New Releases 8/14

Tune in next Tuesday when there's a veritable deluge of great new music, look!! ;

Architecture in Helsinki "Places Like This"
Galactic "From the Corner to the Block"
Talib Kweli "Ear Drum"
Mekons "Natural"
M.I.A."Kala"
Minus the Bear "Planet of Ice"
The New Pornographers "Challengers"
Over the Rhine "The Trumpet Child"
Rilo Kiley "Under the Blacklight"
Josh Ritter "The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter"

Here's what we played tonight that is in stores today...

Linda Thompson "Versatile Heart"
- The track I played 'Beauty' is a fave because of the inclusion of Antony, but it is great to see this legendary English folk queen back in the saddle after years of illness and seclusion.

Nina Nastasia & Jim White "You Follow Me"
- Jim has been a prolific drummer with The Dirty Three amoung others and this was recorded by Steve Albini in Chicago.

The Rentals "The Last Little Life " EP
-Here's one band who seem to really take the blogging thing seriously...why doesn't that surprise me?!

Recoil "subHuman"
- This is Alan Wilder of Depeche Mode and even though he has a nice myspace page it also includes a street address in the ritzy suburb of Horsham!!

Other links that were pertinant to tonights show;
LogJam Festival in Mille Lacs this weekend.
Amy Winehouse, scandal engulfed star as a little innocent girl.
What's you fave Bowie era?
Unlucky Duluth is still reeling from the news that Wilco postponed their show, but they shouldn't fret they have two Atmosphere shows coming in September...in a pizza place?!?!
