I go on vacation for a few days and what happens? I come back to 106 (yes, you heard me) e-mails in my in-box and, Tuesday night, I missed "Musicheads" because I was passed out on the couch after an all-day Mall of Americathon with my mother, who was visiting from Texas. If this weren't enough, DeVille and friends discussed my favorite Elvis Costello album of all time, Armed Forces. You know--the one with the elephants? And that song, "Accidents Will Happen," that absolutely slays you everytime you hear it? Yeah, that album. Fortunately for me--and you, and the good of all mankind, actually--"Musicheads" is also a podcast. So I'm gonna download that puppy right now, for my bus ride home. And you can, too, by going here. And while we're at it ... Favorite misheard Costello song lyrics?

"I recently returned home from living in Bristol, England, where trip-hop was spawned in the early 90s" says Nick Bengston of Lakeville MN. "So my three songs are a tribute to that town and the genre."
1) Massive Attack, "Five Man Army"
2) Portishead, "Wandering Star"
3) Coco Rosie, "Promise"
He continues, "Massive Attack's fusion of hip hop, reggae, and dub in this track is something special. Portishead changed the formula slightly with a slower tempo and that melodic voice. And Coco Rosie (has) a sound that defies being put into a genre, but I think the trip-hop influence is apparent here in 'Promise'."

I did a little record shopping on my vacation in Koln, Germany, at a store called Saturn that claims to have the biggest collection of cds in the world!! It was amazingly hooj and had one of those new preview systems that allows you to scan the barcode of ANY cd and listen to a slice of all the tracks, very cool way to make record shopping even more fun than ever!!
We found a few gems including a new mix from Fabric, the club in London that have provided more Guest Sets than any other. They're very good at sending us mixes, some that are special radio edits, but then you miss out on their cool packaging, a metal box! Ewan Pearson has appeared before too, but his new mix for them is off the charts, so please try to tune in Friday night at 10pm, some sweet, warm and sexy beats!!
