1942 - Roger McGuinn (The Byrds) was born.
1961 - Lawrence Donegan (Lloyd Cole And The Commotions) was born.
1969 - Dozens of radio stations banned The Beatles new single "The Balled Of John and Yoko" because of the line "Christ, you know it ain't easy", calling it offensive.
1990 - Curtis Mayfield was injured at an outdoor concert in Brooklyn.
1997 - Anthony Kiedis underwent surgery after a motorcycle accident
1997 - John Denver's for drunk driving trial ended in a hung jury,
2002 - Fatboy Slim threw a free beach party in Brighton. 60,000 fans were expected to attend but over 250,000 turned up.
2004 - Arthur ‘Killer’ Kane (The New York Dolls) died.

What's more, the Brighton beach is the "worst beach in the world" (per Mark Wheat). Maybe he can elaborate.

Worst beach in the world? I had a professor who explained that when he was living in NY in the 70's Rockaway Beach, made famous by the Ramones, was absolutely unbearable. Along those lines, when I used to live in Calgary Sikome Beach was awful (highlighted in a song by Chixdiggit).

But I hear Normandy's good this time of year.
