I love listening to your station however, you need to stop playing the songs the sound too much like rap. That type of "music" should be played only on a station who doesn't care what they play....
WHA?!!??...
Heh. I coulda swore that this topic was beaten to death on the old forum, but what the heck. Maybe it was only beaten senseless.
[Donning "devil's advocate" hat.
Here's MPR's Vision Statement:
American Public Media, throughout America, and Minnesota Public Radio, throughout the region, seek audiences interested in expanding their horizons and perspectives; in learning, being informed, inspired, and entertained; in enjoying arts and cultural experiences; in understanding, being challenged, and finding pleasure and excitement in on-going personal growth; and in making a commitment to the improvement of their communities.
We will create meaningful, engaging public service programming. We will present content and services selected on the basis of our own judgment and on the basis of information and knowledge resulting from our relationship with our audiences.
Leading its audience to quality hip Hop would seem to dovetail nicely with the goal of expanding its largely white, midwestern audience members' minds and playlists.
Does this middle-aged white woman like all of the hip hop played on the Current? Nup. But then I don't like ever single rock, electronica, or world music song, either. I'm willing to listen through to the next song because someone at the Current thinks that the tune has value, and cares enough to share it with me in the hope that I might find that value for myself.
And for the first time in my life I own hip hop CDs, and like them. Perhaps I could put on a little "Cantaloop Flip Fantasia" for you?
Nice..way to go! i'm suddenly finding myself in the mood for some Too $hort. (life is)
I need to check out The Aliens more. The latest podcast kinda intrigued me some.
