Best Songs of the Year...so far!

Two weeks ago we did a Musicheads where we discussed some of our favourite songs so far this year, and we got a lot of input from the regulars on the Musichead discussion page. So as we head into the second half of the year I thought I'd put together a Top 10 from staff and listeners suggestions, so far;

Mavis Staples "99 and a 1/2"
Cinematic Orchestra "To Build A Home"
LCD Soundsystem "Northern American Scum"
Fields "Song For The Fields"
Brother Ali "Truth Is..."
Ozomatli "Can't Stop"
Peter, Bjorn & John "Young Folks"
Amy Winehouse "Rehab"
Dr.Dog "Ain't It Strange"
Little Man "Out For Miles"

"Die Die Die" by The Avett Brothers, definitely. Oh, and have we forgotten Of Montreal's album came out this year already? One of the best of the year.

good call jason -- "Heimdalsgate like a Promethean Curse" is one of the saddest songs I've heard this year, but also one of the rockingest!

i will put a vote in for "And You Lied To Me" by Besnard Lakes, "Up Against A Wall" by Peter Bjorn and John, "Wet and Rusting" by Menomena and, eventhough it's not a new song (but just released) "All Cleaned Out" by Elliott Smith, one of my favorite Elliott songs actually... these don't have to be "singles" do they?...
