You do the Math...Rock!

I saw Battles this week play at the Triple Rock to see how these guys can pull off this type of music live. I was most impressed with how well orchestrated and composed these strange sounds come about. I think this band and this music is best experienced live and they certainly put on a great show.

Here's a clip of the band playing their hometown.

It's not the easiest type of music to get into, i think you either like it or don't. We discussed their debut release, Mirrored, on this week's Musicheads podcast and I think we all agreed it's certainly not for everyone.

What do you all think? Too brainy?

"Song for Red," July 14, 2007, Our Summer Vacation, Part 2: "Stay Away, You'll Never Know What You'll Catch"

As we shot down out of South Dakota and Wyoming and into Denver we were excited to get to my sister's place for a number of reasons, not the least of which was the fact that she had Guitar Hero!

Our family's collective immune system must be very strong because we caught the GH virus only recently. But we were excited to test our new skills. Over and over and over again...

Red got really good. Her favorite song to rock to is today's SFR, Cheap Trick's "Surrender."

I'm still trying to explain to her what "Indonesian junk" means.
