Can you feel it?

Posted at 11:00 AM on July 6, 2007 by Christina Schmitt (166 Comments)

Holy buckets, there's a lot of energy around town right now. Can you feel it? People are frisky. They're putting on ambitious parties. Some folks are even releasing a new brand of perfume.

So in case you've missed this bit of news, Prince will be playing three shows on Saturday: First, at Macy's downtown, 4 p.m. to release his 3121 perfume (tickets are $250, no lie). Then he's at the Target Center at 8:30 p.m. Tickets $31.21-$131.21. And finally, Prince makes his return to First Avenue later that night -- word is Prince will show up when he shows up. Tickets are $31.21. Our buddy Mark Wheat says Prince hasn't played First Ave. since 1987. Yo! Tickets go on sale Saturday at 3 p.m. at First Avenue, and folks are lining up at First Avenue tonight (Friday) to get tickets. Share your Prince plans here: Dance, Music, Sex, Romance! Prince performs, 07/07/07.

And I couldn't think of a more appropriate person to warm up the First Avenue mainroom on Saturday than Har Mar Superstar, playing an early show (doors at 6 p.m.) I wonder if there would be a Har Mar Superstar without a Prince?

Who says that guys who hang out in bars have no ambition? The dudes from MinnieIndie.com are putting on a 7/7/7 Fest Saturday night. The concept: 7 bars, with 7 bands playing in each, all starting at 7 p.m. Here are the bars: Hexagon, Memory Lanes, Uptown Bar, Triple Rock, Nomad, Big V's and the Turf Club. The lineup was still being tweaked as of this morning. Go to The Current's events calendar for the latest updates.

And if you've still got energy on Sunday night, share it with downtown St. Paul, will you? The best part of downtown is Lowertown, hands down (believe me, I work down here all week long). Check out this FREE show. Black Dog Block Party. 3-9 p.m. with Brother Ali, Los Nativos, Black Blondie (one of the last times with lead vocalist Sarah White).

For today's set, Ali Ginter of Mpls simply asks, "Which is the best band?"

1) Prototypes, "Un Brin De Fierte"
2) CSS, " Off The Hook"
3) Au Revoir Simone, "A Violent Yet Flammable World"

Almost as explosive as Prince playing the Mainroom again, New York City residents will be bring in 7/07/07 with Japan's noise prophets, Boredoms and a project they're calling 77Boardum.

That'd be 77 drummers including Andrew W.K., Modest Mouse, Hot Snakes and many more?!

How many drumsticks is that?
