"Hairspray" not holding my attention

Posted at 2:18 PM on July 2, 2007 by Ali Lozoff (107 Comments)

Someone please edify me on this subject....

"Hairspray" was a pretty darned good movie musical (something I RARELY say, BTW) that was turned into a pretty good broadway musical, that has now been turned BACK into a movie musical? I'm so confused.... I barely got used to the "covering" of old TV shows and remakes of classic movies with modern twists. Now we're seeing the same movie but with a different cast? And more songs? And no Divine? But with John Travolta???? Does this make anyone else irrationally angry?

Someone please let me know when they re-cast Josh Mostel's part in "Jesus Christ Superstar" with Nathan Lane...
