I am sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to hear how Radio Free Current is going to go live... What will be the first song? The second? The 75th?? This is really fun and I can't wait to hear what our listeners voted on.... Did you vote?
OHMYGOODNESSGRACIOUS!!!! It's Elliott Smith's "Between the Bars".... a personal fave. Off to a FABULOUS start!! What do you think...? What are you hoping to hear?
Oh, this is a total hoot! I'm going to be glued to my radio the entire day, even though the reception is crummy at work (no streaming allowed here :-( ). There is nothing quite like hearing yourself on the air.
Thank you for playing the Post Tarts "beat poetry" promo. There's nothing quite like fresh bongos on a mayday morning!
So far I am LOVING Radio Free Current. Good job, peeps! Iffy - awesome. Papas Fritas - excellent. Stevie Wonder - heck yeah! THis is making me very excited for the rest of the day....
This is a blast.
Thanks for the Beat Poetry promo. I think the guy who said "Deville" rocked! :)
I think the Current's "audience participation" approach is brilliant, and another quality that really sets the Current apart from "other" radio stations. It makes me happy to be an MPR member.
A radio station that actually cares about what its audience wants to hear? What a concept!
This is just another reason that I love the Current! A station that cares about its listeners! I love MPR! I love that I can listen at work, too. Don't know what I'd do without you guys, but today I want to thank the fellow listeners, too. Great picks so far -can't wait to see what everyone picks. :)
Yep. Props to the Current for doing this. Props to all the staff for putting it together. It couldn't have been easy.
*snap snap snap*
Radio Free Current has already surpassed my expectations by leaps and bounds! I shoulda known.. this is a station for people who know and love music. And on International Workers Day? Too appropriate.
And can I also tell you that even around here Radio Free Current has already inspired many conversations with my co-workers about song choices and favorite artists? You'd think we'd have these talks all the time, but the day gets so busy that sometimes it's easy to forget what we do and why we do it. It's been so "feel good" around here already this morning, I don't see how the day could get any better!
I have to say, I am so incredibly impressed with everyone's song selections. Our listeners have great taste in music! But, then again that's not that big of a surprise ;) Thanks again to everyone who participated!
Okay, I kinda feel like a dork for reposting to my own blog post, but I'm in such a good and expressive Radio Free Current mood I can't contain myself! You people really know your music. And you are a sunny, upbeat bunch of folks, too... the overall feeling has been great and perfectly Spring like. It's hard to leave my desk since I am dying to know what's coming next. Gotta go vote for my Bowie pick....
I have to say that I'm really enjoying the hourly poll, but what an incredible group of musicians you're asking us to choose from! It's soooooo hard to pick a favorite when you're talking about artists like Johnny Cash, The Clash, David Bowie, Dan Wilson, Paul Westerberg et al.
That's how the day can get better.... "London Calling" blaring out of my computer speakers at 2:58 in the afternoon. Sigh....
My only suggestion for next time: Do this on a Saturday! It kind of felt like I was at a party with all these listeners. Next year I'm getting a keg for this. Steve Seel is invited.
w00t!! There's Onie's 3-song set, emanating from my radio speakers. Thanks, Lucia, this is a good one with a Minnesoter theme.
Dandy Warhols rule!
