Do your musical tastes ever leave you feeling like an outcast? Kaare Kvenild from Apple Valley is sympathetic, and submitted this set to demonstrate today. "I often get accused of listening to odd music," Kaare says. "The chorus of the Mute Math track says, 'Can I break the spell of the typical,' and that's what these artists do -- they break the typical in two. So here are a few of my 'oddities' to share with the listening audience!"
1) Devendra Banhart, "This Is the Way"
2) Danielson, "Ship the Majestic Suffix"
3) Mute Math, "Typical"
Elsewhere on a similar subject: read about how The Hold Steady's Craig Finn recounts a youth of nerd-dom that was saved by his connection to the music that spoke to him, in a wonderful article Craig wrote for The Guardian. (h/t Danny Sigelman).
Thanks for playing my tunes, Steve!!! You guys at the Current make my work day so much cooler! You played my wife's My 3 back on February 23rd (she spelt my name how it sounds to avoid confusion) for my birthday - the best gift I had this year. You guys are fantastic, thanks again!!! Hope you enjoyed the "oddities."
