Can anybody tell me who sings a song? The chorus sounds like they're saying "I prayed for rocketman" but I know that's not what they're saying. One of the big car companies is using the guitar intro for one of their commercials. Anybody help?
Which car company, Byron?
Shoot, can't remember. I wanna say Chrysler or Pontiac, but I'm not really sure. Sorry I can't give you anymore than that:(
Did a quick google search but I do need a tad more info, sorry. If you'd like to call the studio and hum or sing the line it just might help. Otherwise, I'll have Elton John's "Rocketman" running through my head all day!
Is it "Objects of My Affection" by Peter Bjorn and John?...
Ewwww, you're good Wells T! That's the one!!! Barb, I really hope I didn't put "Rocketman" your head, I'm really sorry if I did. If I did, play something life "Sons & Daughters" because then we'll be even because I'll have that stuck in my head. I always do when I hear it, hahaha! Thanks to you both for the help! Now I know what CD I have to buy :)
Yeah, but Rocketman is in MY head now.... :)
glad to hear you solved your song dilemma!
Rocketman is not a good one to have in your head (at least not for me). But I understand his dilema as I know just what car commercial he's talking about and I didn't know the commercial or the song - and I have had that guitar riff in my head since seeing it!
Y'all know that a person can only remove an earworm from one's brain by replacing it with a more powerful earworm...
(Think "Wrath of Khan")
LOVE IT!!! Now that they played Tom Waits I can think of a few others.
Apparently Elliott Smith had a little trick for removing an unwanted song from one's head. Sing "By Mennan!" (you know the little jingle) out loud. and it's gone instantly. I don't know if that's really true but it has worked for me in the past, seriously...
Okay, I will definitely be playing this tune tomorrow. Gotta get Elton out of my head!!
Great site, thanks!...
What is it with these artists cancelling their entire tours? First Lily Allen, now the Fratellis (I think there was someone else in there somewhere). Isn't it just as much a headache to cancel a tour as it is to put one on?
Re: Artists cancelling tours.
I would expect that disappointing millions of one's fans would be a less-than-successful marketing strategy, but sometimes people gotta take a rest. I think Lily was a bit surprised to find that the touring part of being a pop star is really hard work.
As the queen of the ear worms, I feel I have to weigh in that the only true cures I know of for ear worms is to pass them along to someone else, or to hear the song in its entirety. It seems like hearing the whole song would make it worse, but it is kinda like when a record gets stuck - you hit it a little and the song plays all the way through; otherwise the same few nanoseconds play eternally.
Sadly, I usually have a medley of ear worms in my head at any given moment, and the slightest "nudge" can cause them. Just moments ago someone said "Don't cry over it" and "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" is now playing in my head. The Madonna version. And I don't even like musicals, which just makes it worse. But now that I've hopefully passed it along to someone else, it will go away, and I can replace it with the "By Mennen" jingle.
It's so very loud in here.
True true... for years, Ina Gadda Da Vida would pop into my head at least once a day. i swear. i don't think i've ever actually heard the whole song. lately, though, "My Girl (She Been Gone So Long)" by the unforgettable Canadian band, Chilliwack keeps making repeat visits. I want Iron Butterfly back. "By Mennen"
