Steve Seel and I share a passion for Brian Eno who celebrates his 59th Birthday today. In fact I've gone as far as to say that he would be the answer to the question; "Who would you be, rather than you?"
Being in a band like Roxy Music would be enough, then he makes his own albums and producers some of the best albums by...Bowie, U2 and Talking Heads!?!? He made one of my Top 5 albums of all time with David Byrne "My Life in the Bush of Ghosts' forseeing the use of samples and found sounds and...er...oh yeah basically created a whole genre of music; ambient
We played a set to celebrate including a song that Steve suggested combines the best of what Eno is all about ..."Julie with..." from 'Before and after Science'.
Who would you be, if not yourself?
you should check out his latest stuff. "another day on earth" is a true masterpirece.
The first music my son heard after he was born was "Discreet Music". He still listens to it sometimes at bedtime. Also, Eno produced one of my all-time favorites, Devo's Q/A.. Not sure who I'd be, though.
