DJ Mary Lucia is playing Ballroom Blitz right now and it has one of my favorite drum beats ever. Which songs have your most favorite beat?

"When Doves Cry" by Prince, though not as energetic as "Ballroom Blitz", has a virtually tangible energy that truly captures mind and body.

I Want Candy - Bow Wow Wow

Breaking the Girl - Red Hot Chili Peppers (especially the part with the pipes)

Tomorrow Never Knows - The Beatles

Manic Depression - Jimi Hendrix (link goes to Stevie Ray Vaughn doing a fine version)

As an acquaintance of mine once said, "RHCP are a great band, but their videos are terrible."

* "billie jean"
* "trampled under foot" and "when the levee breaks"

Yes, Mac! "When the Levee Breaks" was probably the first one that popped into my head. also,

"Scentless Apprentice" - Nirvana
"Dog End of a Day Gone By" - Love and Rockets
"Strongest Man in The World" - Menomena
"The Figurehead" - The Cure

there's just so many...

The Refugee - U2
Kashmir - The Zep
The Ocean - The Zep

and as much as I hate to admit it, "Swingtown" by Steve Miller Band.

Oooh, "When the Levee Breaks." Love that song. It's so heavy and groovy. Let's give it up for Bonham and all drummers who hit the skins as hard as they can.

Steven Drozd? Josh Garza? two of my current faves who have clearly learned a thing or two from Bonham. I miss being able to watch Steven Drozd play drums live....
