Do your musical tastes ever leave you feeling like an outcast? Kaare Kvenild from Apple Valley is sympathetic, and submitted this set to demonstrate today. "I often get accused of listening to odd music," Kaare says. "The chorus of the Mute Math track says, 'Can I break the spell of the typical,' and that's what these artists do -- they break the typical in two. So here are a few of my 'oddities' to share with the listening audience!"
1) Devendra Banhart, "This Is the Way"
2) Danielson, "Ship the Majestic Suffix"
3) Mute Math, "Typical"
Elsewhere on a similar subject: read about how The Hold Steady's Craig Finn recounts a youth of nerd-dom that was saved by his connection to the music that spoke to him, in a wonderful article Craig wrote for The Guardian. (h/t Danny Sigelman).

Certain artists seem to spark love/hate feelings amoungst the listeners during the afternoons more than others, I'm no stranger to strong feelings so I can appreciate it.
I'm happy to live in a world in which everyone doesn't love the same things.
But I'm curious to know specifically what is it you dislike about blank artist.. got a Rufus Wainright hater regular listener who schooled me in his feelings.
Personally I'd follow Roofy through the gates of hell, but want to put my eye out with a golf pencil when I hear Kimya Dawson.

Steve Seel and I share a passion for Brian Eno who celebrates his 59th Birthday today. In fact I've gone as far as to say that he would be the answer to the question; "Who would you be, rather than you?"
Being in a band like Roxy Music would be enough, then he makes his own albums and producers some of the best albums by...Bowie, U2 and Talking Heads!?!? He made one of my Top 5 albums of all time with David Byrne "My Life in the Bush of Ghosts' forseeing the use of samples and found sounds and...er...oh yeah basically created a whole genre of music; ambient
We played a set to celebrate including a song that Steve suggested combines the best of what Eno is all about ..."Julie with..." from 'Before and after Science'.
Who would you be, if not yourself?
