Mothers' Day is one of those "holidays" that too many people take literally. What I mean is that one day is clearly not enough to honor all the moms in the world. This is something that needs to happen on a daily basis.
Stop what you're doing right now and thank your mom for getting you through all the horrors of childhood and adolescence. That is, of course, unless your mother was a Joan Crawford-type. If that's the case, then forget what I just said.
Today's SFR is called Speak for Me. It's by the South African Philani Mothers choir. Back in the late 90's a collection of their vocal performances was released. It was produced by the British producer Peter Raeburn. In 2005 he released a tastefully remixed version with the help of such luminaries as Nitin Sawhney and Miriam Makeba.
Oh, and Red, give your mom a big fat kiss right now!
