"My 3 Songs" for Wednesday

Posted at 2:22 PM on May 9, 2007 by Steve Seel (4 Comments)

Our dedicated listener Bill Fricke submitted today's set as a "surgery set," as he was originally supposed to go under the knife today for back surgery. We got late notice that his date with the doc was postponed, but hey -- Dr. Rock always keeps his appointments.

1) Luna, "Anesthesia"
2) Peter Murphy, "Cuts You Up"
3) Dar Williams covering "Comfortably Numb"

Local band lives up to their name

Posted at 3:47 PM on May 9, 2007 by Mark Wheat (15 Comments)

Shatterproofare one of the local bands that could have gone on to bigger and better things, one feels, if they had not gotten mixed up in the major label mayhem that blew up in the mid-nineties. They have survived and return Thursday night at the Varsity, with a barrel full of big Britpop tinged tunes on a new cd 'Splinter Queen'. I just played a mellow one called "Calm Down" and you might remember another 'obvious single' which we have played before under the band name Lunar 9 called 'Prozac Melody'? There's even ' mum's the word' which is a fave old English phrase of mine and will double as a special song for YOUR Mom...don't forget Sunday is her day!

Keep up with the charts here

There's been several nice surprises for the artist we play hitting the national charts this year and our friends at Filter magazine do a good job of tracking the artists we love, it's good week for Feist and Tori!
