Spinal Tap Back In Action

Posted at 8:59 AM on April 25, 2007 by Ali Lozoff (7 Comments)

First there was the VW commercial featuring Christopher Guest (aka Nigel Tufnel) and a nasty guitar solo.

Now it seems all of the members of our favorite mock rock band are going to be cranking it up to 11 for the Live Earth concert taking place in July. Now, that's one has-been / never-been reunion concert I might actually want to take in. Seeing "Big Bottom" done live in Wembley Stadium? Priceless.

Oh, Ali, that is cool news! I lurve "Big Bottom", and it would be so incredible to see it performed live!

"This is Spinal Tap" is one of those movies that, if I run across it while channel surfing, I am compelled to watch at least some of it - no matter how late the hour or how many other things I have to do. A true rock-n-roll movie classic if there ever was one.

(A couple of months ago there was a really silly, fluffy Gather thread asking for the names of bands. I posted both "Spinal Tap" and "The Rutles". Would you believe that not a single person "got" it?!? Guess I should stick to the Gather music groups...)

Sweet! Ali, we can always count on you for the news that counts! That would be a terrific trip.

In other news: Think they'll be able to navigate the backstage area?

Let the quote-off begin....

And also, anyone want to place money on who the drummer will be? I'm going with Jason Bonham.

Anyone? Anyone?

Just how many drummers did Spinal Tap go thru, anyway? ;-)

a few years ago they "auditioned" Mick Fleetwood to play for them on a BBC chat show.

They said they needed a drummer without any living relatives.

"You can't really dust for vomit."

Thanks, Ali...let's just call the rest of this afternoon unproductive! : )
