Sometimes you can believe the hype

Ok, duh and whatnot, but Steve Seel just played Tapes 'N Tapes's "Insistor" and I truly do dig that band. You? Do you believe the hype?

I did not believe the hype, until seeing them play live at the Current Fakebook made me a believer.

I do. This band makes me go crazy every time I hear it. Lose my freaking mind. I went and heard Josh Grier at a Coffman Union event recently, and he's cares a lot about making good music. So few people showed up (about twenty?), because nobody knows WHO Josh Grier is yet, so many audience members had a personal tete-a-tete with Mr. Tapes 'n Tapes himself.
To think that a man who is playing Lollapalooza this summer would only draw a handful of people. Pfft... Coffman screwed the pooch on that, on the promotion end. But it was a 'not for profit' event, so perhaps I shouldn't be too shocked by the lack of meaningful effort on the part of the U of M to get the word out on the event.
(A far longer comment than it was originally intended...)

TnT was great at the Current Fakebook gig. They need to play a handful of local shows around the twin cities. It doesn't bother me that they are under the radar...intimate venues and small crowds are fine with me.
