Lollapalooza Line-Up

Lollapalooza is scheduled to happen again this year and the line up is looking pretty darn fabu...with Minny representing with Tapes N' Tapes and The Hold Steady Supposedly it's:

But, then after scanning the names one band in particular caught my eye.....Silverchair. What the??? Silverchair?? The greezy, flannel toteing, teen grunge sensation from down under? Please don't tell me there's a Silverchair resurgence on the horizon.... I had to blog about this. Don't mean to be hating on them or anything but I hadn't even thought of Silverchair in at least 15 years....so random....

4/8/07: Silverchair made music history today with the chart topping debut of their new release Young Modern. They have become the first Australian band to ever have five #1 albums.

Wow, I guess they're pretty damn big in Australia! I totally agree, though, haven't heard from these guys since their big 1995 hit "Tomorrow"...

P.S. FYI - Motion City Soundtrack is from MN...

I hadn't heard the word Silverchair in so many years! Just think though, Ah-ha is still a big deal in Norway...

You should check Silverchair's recent albums before putting them down. Diorama is by far better than anything any american band has put out in the last 5-10 years. and neon ballroom and young modern are very good too. i saw these guys is NYC earlier this year and they were magnificent. so just listen to them before labeling them as "greezy, flannel toteing, teen grunge sensation". they have grown up and they sound nothing like before.

Okay, first off, I'm Australian and I can't tell you how excited I am about Silverchair performing at the lollapalooza and here is why, they're super duper famous here! Let me give you a comparison, Keanu reeves, Imagine if everywhere else in the world the last movie of his that anyone saw was... I won't say bill 'n' ted, lets make it point break, anyway, everytime you mention keanu reeves to a foreigner you're thinking 'the awesome dude from the matrix and constantine' and the other person says, 'wasn''t he in that stupid undercover cop surfing movie' anyway, what was my point... If they play their really awesome music from their last 3 albums, it just might cause your head to explode, and that's without the hundred piece orchestra (though that would be sweet) that they would need to be faithful to the studio recording.

Ps. Don't expect them to play Tommorow, they haven't performed that song live in the last 7 or 8 years, though if you pray to the gods of rock'n'roll, there's a slight chance they might, but don't count on it.
