Micah P from River Falls, WI, put together a set today in honor of the local label Afternoon Records, who are having their 4-year anniversary party this weekend. "I thought, since you play 'My 3 Songs' at 12 noon, it would be appropriate, well earned, and much too long overdue to shout-out to Afternoon Records and all the music being released" through them. Micah's picks:
1) A Night in the Box, "Conductor Man"
2) One for the Team, "Tame the Beast"
3) Mouthful of Bees, "The Now"
Speaking of that last tune, Chris Riemenschneider wrote a nice piece in the Strib this morning that talked about hearing it right here on the station; his article showcases the band and also touches on how Afternoon Records' Ian Anderson has become "king of finding great bands too young to buy him off with a drink." Well put.
