Today's Lawsuits

Here are two cheerful music related court actions for your consideration.
Kevin Costner, a mere actor, could have been REALLY famous if not for the people holding him back.
And Keith Urban (the painter) is TOO famous, perhaps because he shares a name with Keith Urban (the musician).
Can't we all just get along?

Neko Case is the new David Bowie

Posted at 2:21 PM on April 6, 2007 by Christina Schmitt (11 Comments)

Let me explain that. The music of David Bowie has long been the common ground that I've relied on when I meet new people, move in with new roommates, etc. A lot of people like the guy and his music allows us all to have something to talk about, and listen to, with each other.

In the last year, I've found that Neko Case does the same thing for me. You?

What music do you rely on to break the ice with new people in your life?

Guest DJ Set 4/6/07

Posted at 10:08 PM on April 6, 2007 by Mark Wheat (4 Comments)

Since the start of the year, once a month, we have been featuring sets put together by DJ ESP Woody McBride. The first he did for us, ambient music designed to chill out and relax to, is now available on a cd. Thanks to local cd manufacturers Copycats, we were able to take a thousand down to Austin Texas for SXSW. We handed them out to our guests who came to see the live performances, apparently Fujiya & Mijagi really liked it!!
It features 19 tracks all by local, independent artists, curated by Woody. More details at; thetimelessinstitute.com

This weeks set was much more upbeat, exploring some of the new tracks that will be featured on his next solo cd release coming in May. He has a busy spring planned playing some big festivals in Europe and on April 22nd, Earth Day in St.Croix Falls WI ; djesp.com
