Turf Club is the new St. Paul

In probably one of the most hilarious MySpace bulletin posts I've read in a loooong time, Erik Applewick of Vicious Vicious and Tapes 'n Tapes has decided to re-name St. Paul and start calling it Turf Club. (Unfortunately, I can't link to MySpace bulletins, so you're going to have to trust me.)

Vicious Vicious will be touring the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Turf Club this weekend. Catch them tonight at the Hexagon Bar in Minneapolis with David Karsten Daniels, Arbouretum, and Parts for All Makes and Saturday night at the Turf Club in Turf Club for the Walker Kong CD Release show.

Expect to hear some new material at these shows as Applewick also mentioned that he'll be in the studio today to finish mixing the new Vicious Vicious record, which is expected to come out in late June.

I've heard St Paul needed an image make over anyway. Some officials were planning on wasting a ton of money coming up with a tag for the capitol when they could have just started calling it Turf Club all along!

Of course, what with the state government being located here, would it be appropriate to also refer to St. Paul as the Clown Lounge?

Subject vicious vicious world tour (of the twin cities)


Body: so, about a week ago the guy from the Hex asked if we'd play a show there on Friday the 30th. i was thinking to myself, "well, we got that show at the Turf on saturday but hell, we haven't played out for awhile so how could it hurt?"



After lots of unnecessary hemming and hawing we decided to put ourselves together a little tour. Yes, we are going on tour. Here are our dates:

Friday, March 30th @ the Hexagon Bar, Minneapolis, MN

Saturday, March 31st @ The Turf Club, Turf Club, MN



[recently I decided that since everyone I know uses Turf Club as the geographic center of the twin cities, St. Paul will now be called the Turf Club. For example, "so, the Egg and I is on University but once you get off 94 do you go toward minneapolis or the Turf Club?". or,
"so if you're going to the Dubliner you take the 280 exit but do you go left toward minneapolis or right toward the Turf?" Anyway, nothing against the Hex but I'm not ready to rename Minneapolis. Maybe someday. So anyway, we're playing a show at the Hex tonight. The other bands are (drum roll please):



David Karsten Daniels(fat cat)

Arbouretum(baltimore)

Parts For All Makes



Then we're getting in the van and driving all the way over to Turf Club to play at the Turf Club in Minnesota on Saturday the 31st. Sure we'll be all road weary and shit but it'll be worth it. I hear the ladies in Turf Club are H-O-T. We are playing with Walker Kong and it is their CD release show and they are a really fun band so it'll be great.

I better wrap this up.

another point of interest is that I'll be heading over to Shortman studio today to finish the mixing of our new album due out in late June-ish. We'll be peppering our sets with tunes from the forthcoming record.



ps., no offense intended toward the city of St. Paul or any of it's inhabitants. I'm moving back to St. Paul myself on sunday so I'm right there with ya. Anything to be a little closer to the Turf Club.
