As if last week's amazing Wolfmother show at the(much to be desired) Myth Nightclub(my waitress had never heard of PBR before?!) wasn't enough I am just giddy to see today's announced Heaven and Hell tour dates. The tour will be bringing the evil to the Target Center May 6.
This is the reunion of the Dio-era Black Sabbath that put out a few ridiculously dark and strange records in the early 80's. Ozzy's best lady won't let them tour as Black Sabbath, of course, so it's appropriate they would go by the name of the first record created by this version of the band.
I never got to see Dio or Sabbath in my metal days of youth so I am look forward to this one.
I often wonder how after over 20 years of listening to this music I am not a total satan-obsessed, lunatic, violent, worshipper of the dark side like everyone warned we'd become back then?
Maybe I still have all that to look forward?
Wolfmother was amazing! That show should have been at 1st Ave. The Myth has good sound but frankly it's too sterile an environment for that kind of band. Bar service efficiency completely blew - took at least 15 minutes to get a drink and the two bar tenders on duty upstairs moved like molasses. Now that was hell!
I assume The Myth has a similar feel as the Quest, which always felt like i was watching a rock show on a UPN show.. The Peach Pit After Dark, maybe?.. To be honest, I have not heard much (any?) Dio era Sabbath but I never liked his voice... Kind of seems like the Bad Brains with Chuck Mosley singing...I heard Dio plays a mean vibraphone, though...
Oh hell yes, I am all over the sabbath/dio reunion. The two records they did together are arguably some of the best material any formation of Sabbath ever released. I never got to sse this incarnation either, but I am definitely going this time.
Oh, man...the Target Center?
Target Center sucks for sure. I saw Dio w/Sabbath (though it was a bit different lineup I think) on Halloween 1992 (I think) at the Orpheum. It was awesome, I think (partying, man) And I've seen Sabbath with Ozzy a zillion times and Dio doin his thing and both are awesome and this show is going to be killer! (even if it is at the Target Center)
